Flights and Arrival Planning

How to fly into Paro, why flight days need a buffer, and how we plan arrival and departure days.

Government rules and fees can change at short notice. Check the official sources on this page before you travel.

Most visitors arrive at Paro International Airport, Bhutan’s only international airport. The approach between mountains is spectacular and flights are operated by Bhutan’s national carriers from a limited number of regional hubs.

Planning tips

  • Book flights only after your tour dates, and any festival dates, are confirmed.
  • Allow a buffer for connections: mountain weather can delay flights into and out of Paro.
  • We plan arrival days gently and keep departure days free of long drives or the Tiger’s Nest hike, so your flight never depends on a rushed schedule.

Arriving overland

Bhutan also has land entry points on the border with India. If you plan to arrive or leave by road, tell us early so we can check the current procedures for your route.
